Nail Glam: Border/Outlined Nails

So I saw a post on Necole Bitchie's Blog about these nails which seems to be the new trend.

It features a thin contrasting outline that is painted around the outter part of your nails. You can achieve this look with a regular nail polish brush if you’re a pro or you can use a nail art pen, or a small nail design brush.
To create this design you will need to know some basic contrasting colors that will make the outline pop. Black and white are the most dramatic contrasting colors but you can also use blue/yellow, green/purple, orange/pink, etc.

I decided to give it a try:
All I did was paint a base colour and use one of those nail polishes with the thin brush to paint the outline.

Here are some other designs she featured on the blog:

Glam Life: Mac Force of Love Lipstick Update

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I was at a video shoot on Sunday and I had to do my own makeup. There was a MUA on set but I dunno what happened. Anywho, almost all the ladies on set had to their own hair and makeup and guess what! I decided to try out my Mac Force of Love from Shop Mac. I really don't think this is a daytime lippie but hey, to each their own. There are different ways of wearing a lipstick anyways.

In between takes I went outside to chill and just snapped a couple pics with my phone.

Elf Studio: Matte Lip Color Review & Swatches

So I've been meaning to do this post for over a year now (because that's how long I've had these) but I was not motivated as I have never worn them and these are my least fave products from Elf Cosmetics.

I absolutely abhor these lipsticks, Here's a few reasons why:
  • It gets extremely hot in this country so by the time I first opened one of them, the lipstick just flew out of the packaging. [[[not impressed]]]
  • It's not long wearing
  • It gives very little color coverage

The one thing I did like was that these were some pretty shades.

I would not re-purchase this item. Unfortunately for me I bought four :(womp womp womp...

Here are some photos:

Mac Shop Mac, Cook Mac: Runaway Red Review and Swatches

So Runaway Red is a very vibrant red. At first glance I thought it would be a bit darker when I put it on but it was not. It has a satin finish and it very moist. This is the perfect statement lipstick and is the Yin to my Ruby Woo yang as Ruby Woo is extremely matte and very dry but I love it all the same.

This looks a lot like my LA Girl 'Soulmate' lipstick which was what inspired me to wear bold lipsticks. Will do a comparison soon to see if it's a dupe.

I ♥ Music: Frank Ocean - Thinking About You (cover) by Kally Rey

I love this song. I came across this cover over the weekend and felt like sharing :) She has such a soothing voice. It's almost better than the original.

Mac Shop Mac, Cook Mac: Quick Sizzle Review and Swatches

It's your lipstick junkie here again with another one. You may have seen my haul the other day and so here's the review.

This one's a bright blue-based fuchsia pink with opaque color coverage. It has a matte finish. It's a very moist matte though and is very creamy. Since I gave away my Show Orchid lipstick from the Mac Fall Color collection there has been a void to fill. Although Quick Sizzle is not as bright a fuchsia as Show Orchid is, it's close enough for me. Show Orchid is actually an Amplied, so it has a bit of shimmer. This lipstick does not show up as a fuchsia on me, it is a bit paler as you can see in the photos below. Nonetheless I am in LUST.

Mac Chenman: Force of Love Review and Swatches

Force Of Love  is a bright coral-pink with a hint of orange and has a matte finish. It is opaque and is very similar to Watch Me Simmer from Shop Mac but less shiny.

I am absolutely in L♥VE with this colour.

Good luck in trying to find one. Last I checked, BOTH Mac Stores in Trinidad were sold out. They only stock a few items in each collection which puts us over here at a great disadvantage. It's really just a fight to see who gets it first which I find very unfortunate. It has also sold out on the Mac website :(

I ♥ Music: Nebula868 - Time Machine

So if you don't already know, I'm from Trinidad & Tobago :) We are a very cosmopolitan country and as such the music we listen to is very diverse, however the music of my land is SOCA, which is basically an evolution of Calypso music and is very happy and upbeat.

We are blessed with many talented artists, so today I want to feature an up-and-coming group by the name of Nebula868. Now I can't descirbe their music or even put a label on it but it's basically a fusion of Pop, R&B, a little bit of Dance and a little bit of Soca.

Yesterday they dropped a mixtape and let me just say, this is gonna be on REPEAT for quite some time.

You be the judge!

You can find them on Facebook for everything Nebula868.

MILANI LIQUIF'EYE METALIC EYELINER PENCIL

So on Saturday after hitting the Mac store for some much needed retail therapy, my friend Chantel managed to haul my ass into Wonderful World, which by the way I banned myself from for a few months (I'm addicted). WE managed to get our hands on the very rare BLACK Milani Liquif'eye Metalic Eyeliner. Well so I've heard. I also scooped up the aqua pencil.

I love eyeliner, so yeah...this was a treat for me.
For my US ladies, don't be startled by the price tag as this is in Trinidad & Tobago currency. It usually retails between $4.00 -$7.00 USD.

I tried to do basic swatches of both but my lighting was too poor to show the true quality.

I am in love with this eyeliner as it stays put and is very vibrant. It's definitely a great buy.

Edited: I find it to be too soft and as a result the eyeliner crumbles when I sharpen it. I really love the pigmentation and can only hope that they change the formula and make it a bit more hard.

Took the liberty of swatching a few lippies :D

Stefano Pilati’s Finale Collection: A Reflection on His Time at Yves Saint Laurent

Pilati assumed the role in 2004, when he was relatively unknown, after Tom Ford’s departure.

When the girls marched out for the finale, it was clear that Mr. Pilati didn’t intend for this to be his final collection for the house. Rather, it seemed more like a collection where he was still searching for the modern soul of YSL.
